The Silverleaf Wine Cellar: Where Function Meets Finesse
Commissioned by the owner to create a spectacular centrepiece for this new luxury home in Scottsdale Arizona, this under-stair glass cellar was the result of meticulous planning and collaboration. The exceptional design blends function, style, and innovation, seamlessly integrated into the home’s open floor plan and offering an exquisite, functional wine display backdrop for the main entertainment area.
The Vision
The client sought a distinctive wine cellar that would be more than just a storage space—it would be a focal point of the home and capture the attention of all who view it. Positioned under the staircase and accessible from the adjacent dining room, this bespoke wine cellar had to have clear visibility from both sides, transforming the space into an immersive part of the home’s flow.

Masterful Execution
Utilizing the space under the home's magnificent staircase, Heritage Vine had the pleasure of designing this cellar from scratch to match the aesthetic of the luxury living surrounds. To maintain the open plan feel of the walk through space, the cellar is enclosed with clear glass panels, flowing past the base of the staircase through to the steps. With a considerable personal collection, the cellar had to have ample capacity within a confined space. To hold the collection without disrupting the design, the oak wood base section features double stacked racking for added storage. Angled custom holders accommodate and showcase large-format bottles and magnums, whilst a counter runs along the adjacent wall to provide a functional space for pouring. Minimalist black aluminum racking holds the rest of the collection against the glass panels, creating a feature wall of wine on display with a clean, elegant finish. This stunning cellar is then enhanced with considered, delicate LED lighting, subtly illuminating the collection with a moody, atmospheric glow.
Challenges and Collaboration
This project posed unique challenges, particularly with the cellar's location beneath the staircase, which required precise consideration of climate control and airflow. The temperature control system was carefully designed to maintain the optimum climate for the wine bottles, and the cellar's racking was engineered for both stability and visibility.
Heritage Vine worked closely with multiple contractors, coordinating with separate trades for glass installation and climate control system to ensure the project came together seamlessly. The final result is a custom wine cellar that is not only visually stunning but also fully fit for purpose.
