Introduction

After collaborating with Heritage Vine on a number of wine cellar projects on Property Brothers, Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel commissioned Heritage Vine to create their dream, bespoke wine cellar in their own home, The Park House. With wine being an integral part of social occasions in their home, they wanted a wine cellar that not only displayed the wine beautifully and seamlessly integrated with the existing home design, but perfectly preserved and protected their collection.

Built in 1938, their home, lovingly named The Park House due to the vast grounds, has been exquisitely renovated by the couple to reflect not only their personal taste, but with added elements that would have delighted the original architect, Gerard Colcord.

The Design

The wine cellar has been designed with the intention of feeling as if it was an original feature of the home, staying in true keeping with its surroundings. Incorporating gothic arches to mirror the newly added arches throughout the home, the cellar incorporates natural woods for warmth with clean metal and glass doors to perfectly frame the ‘art’ within. Central, open shelves create well lit spaces for showcasing the couples favorite bottles. Sliding drawers and vertical and horizontal shelving provides the functional element, with plenty of options for bulk storage to hold up to 184 bottles.

Adding to the carefully considered functionality of the cellar, Jonathan requested added features to ensure their collection was well protected. With a recording studio on the adjacent wall, additional insulation was added to protect against vibrations and support with temperature maintenance. The custom climate control system is hidden from the eye, and perfectly maintains the cellar temperature at 55 degrees for optimum quality.

A beautiful, functional cellar that has become a focal point in the home.
